The subject of my work is a defunct church that used to stand on the site of the Kotva department store. It was demolished at the end of the 18th century. Its remains were found during an archaeological excavation during the construction of the Kotva. Despite protests, the finds were razed to the ground. Thanks to this research, it was possible to draw its ground plan quite accurately and to determine its specific location. My design is a monument to the church. Its shape is based on the intersection of two ground plans - the present Kotva and the defunct church. The fundamental idea is the feeling of Absence. It is expressed by the missing part of the Kotva. The result is three connected empty spaces. Their atmosphere is created by the different penetration of the upper light according to the position of the hatch. Taking away the commercial function. I'm bringing back the spiritual.
